General Counsel and Chief Franchise Officer, MasterCard
Tim Murphy is general counsel and chief franchise officer for MasterCard, overseeing legal affairs, public policy, corporate secretary and compliance. A member of the company’s Management Committee, he also has responsibility for franchise development and integrity, corporate security and privacy, and global diversity. He was most recently the company’s chief product officer, having also served as president of the U.S. region and other senior legal roles. Before joining MasterCard, Tim was an associate in the New York and London offices of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton. Tim graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School and magna cum laude from Amherst College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the National Urban League.
