Author and Journalist

Carla Power is the author of If The Oceans Were Ink: An Unlikely Friendship and a Journey to the Heart of the Quran, which was a 2015 finalist for the National Book Award in Nonfiction. A former Newsweek correspondent, she has also published reportage and essays in a range of periodicals, including Time, Vogue, The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, and Foreign Policy. She holds an M.Phil. from St. Antony’s College, Oxford University in Modern Middle Eastern Studies, as well as degrees from Yale and Columbia.
