DoubleXEconomy

DoubleXEconomy provides advice, insights, research, strategy, analysis, and materials to organizations undertaking programs that better include women in the world economy. Its mission is to bring more women into positive economic engagement by helping clients to produce innovative efforts and monitor their impact.

DoubleXEconomy capitalizes on the expertise of its founder, Linda Scott; however, the company also builds on the network of colleagues who have helped produce a wide-ranging platform of work on women’s economic empowerment from a variety of perspectives, including finance, entrepreneurship, marketing, and international development. This community of experts has conducted extensive fieldwork around the world, as well as engaged in practical programs aimed at women’s economic empowerment. As a result, they have seen first-hand where many of the barriers to empowerment lie and also have direct experience with the organizational challenges that face practical programs. This on-the-ground knowledge thus provides a unique, two-pronged perspective on the design, implementation, impact, and efficacy of such efforts. The company works with an impressive list of major institutions and currently has projects under way in the United States, the European Union, Africa, and the MENA region.

From 2016 onwards, DoubleXEconomy plans to produce the Power Shift Forum for Women in the World Economy, whether in the UK, the US, or other countries. The Forum will retain all of the elements for which it has become known, such as candid discussions, a collegial atmosphere, and an emphasis on practical impact. This first year, when we are moving beyond Oxford to Washington, DC, is an important opportunity to solidify those core aspects of the Forum, while also benefitting from the unique expertise of a new community. Many of the same team members who managed Power Shift in the UK remain deeply involved, and are committed to ensuring that the 2016 Forum be as engaging, productive, and enjoyable as it has been since its founding in 2013.
